Hewitt Engineering Inc. provides a wide variety of floodplain management and drainage design services. These services vary from floodplain determinations for individual lots to regional watershed master planning studies. We have prepared numerous Letter of Map Amendments (LOMAs) submittal packages to FEMA to remove property from the floodplain that is currently shown within the floodplain. Recent drainage projects include storm sewer and channel design to reduce current flooding problems and the design and implementation of water and sediment control basins to reduce flooding and improve the downstream water quality.
Mr. Hewitt has performed numerous hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using HEC-HMS/HEC-1 and HEC-RAS/HEC-2. His project experience includes flood insurance studies, FEMA CLOMR and LOMR studies, master drainage plans, outfall studies, backwater analyses, storm sewer analyses and design, and detention storage design. He has prepared drainage studies and improvement plans for small and large municipalities, drainage facilities for several major highway construction projects, flood studies for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served as project manager for a 138 square mile watershed master plan incorporating GIS based tools into the planning process. Mr. Hewitt currently serves as the Floodplain Administrator for Kerr County and the City of Ingram.
